Presented by John Preston, PsyD, ABPP - 4 CE Hours

Workshop Description:
In the U.S., primary care doctors prescribe 85 percent of psychiatric medications. Without psychotherapy, outcomes are often inadequate—most studies show less than a 30 percent response rate. Increasingly psychotherapists play an important role in collaborating with primary care physicians and psychiatrists.
Preston will address the role of the non-medical psychotherapist in dealing with medication treatments including ethical issues, treatment adherence problems, and relapse prevention

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this online workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Formulate better diagnosis of psychiatric disorders.
2. Employ new approaches to the medication treatments of certain disorders.
3. Hone collaboration skills with physicians
4. Diffrentiate the limitations of pharmacologic treatments and the need for integrated approaches.
5. Restate the use and limitations of over-the-counter products.
