CAMFT's Certified Supervisor Program
The CAMFT Certified Supervisor Program is offered as a voluntary program, intended to be unique to the needs of supervisors and supervisees within the State of California. Further, it permits those who enjoy supervising to fulfill part of their mandatory continuing education requirements by taking courses relevant to supervision. Please note Effective July 1, 2015, BBS-licensees may obtain all of their required CE hours through self-study (previously limited to one-half of the total required hours) if the self-study course is offered by an acceptable CE provider.

Licensees who previously served as a BBS qualified supervisor but have not supervised for the past 2 years must take 6 hours of supervision training or coursework within 60 days of resuming supervision.

Supervisors must complete a minimum of 6 hours of continuing professional development in supervision during each subsequent renewal period while providing supervision.

Licensees who commence supervision for the first time in California must obtain 15 hours of supervision training/coursework from a government agency or CE provider acceptable by the BBS. If the course is taken from a government agency or from an acceptable CE provider, the course must have been taken within 2 years prior to commencing supervision or within 60 days after commencing supervision. If the course was taken at a master’s or higher level from an accredited or approved postsecondary institution, the course was have been taken within 4 years prior to commencing supervision, or within 60 days after commending supervision.

This workshop can also stand on its own as a resource for anyone who provides clinical supervision to prelicensed therapists and satisfies the BBS’ supervision requirements
