Workshop Description:
Discover how the therapeutic and quintessentially human journey to “best self,” is informed by new developments in the fields of positive psychology and neuroscience. Identifying and encouraging a client’s innate character strengths, as well as helping them develop new strengths—fostering self-compassion and positive empathy as well as understanding spirituality as a constellation of eight positive emotions—creates resilience and authentic happiness. You will learn both the rationale for the use of these evidence-based interventions, as well as practical methods to use with your clients.

- Use the VIA character strengths survey.
- Help clients clarify values with a brief, informal survey.
- Discuss the development of meta-awareness for emotional flexibility.
- Practice three types of meditation: mindfulness, loving-kindness, and wellbeing imagery.
- Define spirituality (as distinct from religion) as a constellation of eight positive emotions.
