Course Description:
MFTs and MHCs may now enroll as Medicare providers. Join Ms. Jasper for a 1-hour law and ethics presentation to go over details about the Medicare Advantage (MA) system and how to enroll with MA plans. Whether choosing to opt-in or opt-out of Medicare, Ms. Jasper will also offer ideas for how to address the topic of Medicare with patients. As the January 1, 2024 Medicare provider eligibility dates approaches, MFTs, LPCCs and their patients will need to have an understanding of each other’s relationship with Medicare.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Identify how LMFTs (and LPCCs) fit into the Medicare Advantage system.
  • Identify the steps LMFTs (and LPCCs) may take to participate in Medicare Advantage.
  • Use practical ideas and tips for how to cover the topic of Medicare with patients
  • Describe the information providers who opt out must share with their patients to fulfill their legal and ethical obligations.
